Glasgow boasts a world-class arts scene, lively restaurants and cafes, and is filled with museums, art galleries, theaters, and outstanding Victorian buildings and Art Nouveau "Glasgow Style" architecture, made famous by the celebrated architect and designer Charles Rennie Mackintosh. While guided excurions are not part of the program, you will enjoy exploring all Glasgow has to offer, and taking day trips and weekends in other parts of Scotland and England on your own.
Only 42 miles from Edinburgh, Glasgow is the gateway to some of Scotland's most beautiful scenery, including the Western Isles and the Highlands. Glasgow is well situated for day trips into the surrounding countryside, from the rolling hills of the Clyde Valley to the walking country of East Dunbartonshire, from the 12th century abbey in Paisley to the ancient stone circles on the Isle of Arran. Spectacular natural scenery, castles, abbeys, beautiful country gardens, and bustling market towns are all in close proximity. It is easy to get around by train or coach (bus).
