2008 International Service-Learning Conference:
Engaging Your Campus and the World through International Service-Learning

Utah Valley University | October 2 - 3, 2008

Utah Valley University and the International Partnership for Service-Learning and Leadership are hosting an International Service-Learning Conference for campus teams and individuals involved in or interested in international service-learning.

Participants will engage in a variety of workshops, panel discussions, poster presentations, plenary sessions, and other activities that will help campus teams and individuals learn about best practices in international service-learning. Additionally, participants will have an opportunity to develop a campus plan for international service-learning programs and academic courses. This conference may be beneficial for study abroad departments, service-learning faculty, international centers, volunteer and service-learning departments, and other organizations interested in service-learning at an international level.

Registration

Early bird registration will open on August 1, 2008. The cost to attend the conference is $150.00. After September 7, 2008 a late fee of $50.00 will be added to the registration fee. The registration fee includes all conference materials including 3 meals.

Call for Proposals

We are seeking all types of proposals. Potential topics may include but are not limited to:

• Best practice principles and guidelines for implementing international service-learning.
• Risk management issues in international serviced-learning.
• Conceptual and theoretical frameworks for developing and understanding international service-learning.
• Research on learning outcomes for students, as well as outcomes with international partnerships, faculty, and institutions.
• Assessment/evaluation tools and strategies.
• Best practice principles for developing international service-learning partnerships.

All proposals are due July 1, 2008. Notifications will be sent out mid-July 2008
